LAW is a specialized assessment service focused upon promoting and advocating on behalf of individuals and groups in matters of employment and labour grievance issues arising in non-unionized workplace environments. Through the commitment, knowledge and experiences of a network of individuals and professionals LAW assists persons, based upon their specific needs, where there has been wrongful and/or illegal actions by the employer towards the employee within the workplace.
As a not-for-profit network, LAW works on the principle of cost recovery in the process of developing a strategy that is fair and equitable on behalf of the individual/employee that has no recourse in protecting their rights. Individuals in a non-unionized work environment do not normally have the financial resources and means to retain the services of a lawyer to represent their interests and rights in employee-employer labour matters of wrongful dismissal, contract agreements and safe workplace conditions.
LAW provides case assessment services throughout Canada in most federal, provincial and territorial jurisdictions. Claims submitted by individuals go through an informal intake assessment process in determining the relevant facts and merits of their claim, and exercising the legal and non legal options available so as to achieve the best possible outcome and compensation for a loss of employment.
LAW will review and assist to achieving a mutually agreed resolution in employee-employer labour issues and grievances. In facilitating labour related resolutions LAW addresses matters to include, however not limited to the following:
· Wrongful dismissal
· Contract Employment Service Agreements and renegotiations
· Workplace safety issues
· Legal representation in costs and damage claims
· Conflict resolution and mediation
The advocacy services of LAW are available to individuals, professionals, associations, educational institutions, and community organizations.
The case intake assessment process involves an informal telephone consultation before supporting documents and further information is requested (via email or mail).
All documents and attachments submitted for a case intake assessment may be in a standardized electronic file format (MS Word, .pdf and image .jpg are accepted formats).
However, other electronic file formats may be submitted.
NOTE: All submissions should include within the text of the document the full mailing address and your contact telephone number and email address.
